Case Study: MJBiz Modules

Project: MJBiz Modules (WordPress)
Summary: MJBiz Daily is the leading marijuana industry news source, and I joined their Web Development team in 2021 as a UX designer/digital project manager. Immediately I noticed that their marketing team had self-service needs for the convention website that were not being met. Driven by an intense show cycle that demanded constant updates but also operating with very limited WordPress permissions, they were both hacking solutions together (creating one UX mess after another) and making round-the-clock requests of WebDev for simple text changes. So, I suggested designing a module system that would allow Marketing to be more self-sufficient. My team created basic modules and gave them options like a quote showcase, logo gallery, and event showcase. This enabled Marketing to control and maintain their content, while allowing WebDev to guarantee a consistent, coherent user experience. The project was a success, and we even helped them rebrand and improve the website’s appearance. I’m proud of the outcome!
My Responsibilities: UX Evaluation, Module Design, Wireframes, Mockups
